SusTrace started from a simple concern: as new deforestation and responsible-sourcing requirements were announced and later extended, many smallholder farmers risked being excluded from formal supply chains simply because their farms were not properly mapped, registered, or visible. The company was created to help close that gap by making farmers easier to identify, farms easier to trace, and sourcing areas easier to document, while helping buyers maintain access to viable and responsible sources of supply. At its core, SusTrace sees traceability not only as a compliance need, but as a tool for visibility, trust, market access, and more sustainable agricultural trade.

SusTrace is led by Maxwell Obiakara, an agricultural and environmental consultant with experience in field data collection, geospatial mapping, sustainability assessment, agricultural value-chain research, and traceability-related data systems. The company works with a practical, field-informed approach to help clients collect reliable data, organise evidence, and make better sourcing and sustainability decisions.
